My shapes are simple and made in a clay I make up myself then burnish. I am interested in saggar, salt and smoke firing. Currently I am exploring "reconstruction" which to me represents the constant battle we all have to keep the different areas of our lives together. In my case wife, mother, artist, daughter, sister and friend, and all the responsibilities and expectations that each of those entails. Sometimes the bits are in harmony which is inspiring and uplifting, sometimes they clash and do not seem to fit, plunging me into self doubt, or is that just me ..... surely not! In the end the different parts all have to make up a whole.

I use several methods of handbuilding and once I am happy with the shape, I refine and burnish the vessel. The work is bisque fired in a kiln to around 900 degrees. Once cooled I deconstruct (!) them and decide how the pieces are going to be treated. I never know how each piece will look until they are fully reconstructed. What I really love about the firing techniques I use is the tremendous depth to the pattern they give.
